Physician Assistant
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for diagnostic and therapeutic management of patients including: complete medical history, conducting physicals, establishing diagnoses through tests, and formulating treatment plans.
SUPERVISOR: Patient Services and Training Manager; Physician
Randall Marx – Foot, Ankle, Lower Leg; including knees.
Robert Hartzler – Shoulder and Elbow Surgery
Dr. Frank Garcia - Knee, Hip, Shoulder and total joint replacement
DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Completes medical histories on patients
Reviews prior medical records including outside films
Prescribes tests to progress diagnosis
Reviews diagnostic studies, communicates results with patients
Provides follow-up treatments and care to patients in accordance with protocols established by physician
Assists in surgeries as needed
Promotes mission of the group
Maintains appropriate level of documentation for patient chart
Determines & bills for appropriate CPT coding of visit
Assists billing department with coding/billing questions
Handles phone calls for patients/physicians for medically related questions
Carries and answers company provided cell phone
Assists supervising physician with on-call duties
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION: Bachelors degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Must also hold current License by Texas State Board of Physician Assistants.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2-3 years experience as physician assistant in Orthopaedic or related field.
SKILLS: Must be able to communicate effectively with patients and staff members, must be able to create and maintain positive rapport with patients, physician, and other staff members, must be able to work weekends as needed..
ABILITIES: Knowledge of general computer systems a must, word and excel a plus..
OTHER: Other duties to be assigned as necessary and may vary at times, as needed by your immediate supervisor or as directed by the company.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS: Requires prolonged sitting, stretching, and some bending. Requires eye hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopies, telephone, and other equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare and communicate appropriate information to patients and team members. Normal but fast-paced work environment.
