See http://www.paleyinstitute.org/ for more information.
We are looking to add another full time Physician Assistant (PA) to our overall team of 7 full time and 1 PRN PA’s to primarily assist with Dr. Dror Paley, a world renowned orthopedic surgeon specializing – leading the field – in pediatric and adult deformity correction. We have led the field in over 25 years in pioneering the surgical treatment of many congenital deformities such as Congenital Femoral Deficiency, Fibular and Tibial Hemimelia, Congenital Pseudoarthrosis of the Tibia, Perthe’s disease, other hip dysplasias, upper extremity pathology such as radial club hand, and finger deficiencies. Multiple rare syndromic patients are seen on a daily basis in our clinic, of which about 60% are international patients. Treatment for these deformities are multi-faceted, including a combination of large open procedures with minimally invasive procedures that utilize both internal and external devices to correct deformities gradually and/or lengthen the affected extremities.
The ideal candidate is a high energy team player with at least 2 years of orthopedic surgical experience. Experience with other surgical sub specialties will be considered. NEW GRADUATES ARE NOT BEING CONSIDERED AT THIS TIME. Both NCCPA certification, a graduate of an accredited Masters-level program and an active Florida State License is mandatory.
Although the PA will be working primarily with Dr. Paley, the candidate will, in time, be trained and absorbed into the other clinical responsibilities of the practice, as is all the other PA team members. Our call rotation is currently one in 8; call is for practice only, and no ER/Trauma call is required.
Under the direction of a licensed physician(s), the PA provides and/or augments physician’s ability to provide medical services to patient using approved patient care protocols; surgical first assisting in all specialties, multiple-layered closures, limited hardware removal under direct supervision, clinic responsibilities. Full time mid-level floor staff (ARNP’s) account for nearly all inpatient day-to-day coverage; weekend call encompasses inpatient rounding. Inter-disciplinary rounds occur each week, and are a constant available source of Category II CME’s.
The compensation package is generous, commensurate with experience, and includes a tier-based bonus structure to begin after one year of successful full time employment.
This is a unique and diverse practice, one that sees and successfully treats conditions not readily described throughout the world. In essence, we are a ‘tertiary referral center’ for orthopedic deformities.
Requirements to be considered include:
• Licensed Physician Assistant in the State of Florida
• Current BLS/CPR
• Masters of Sciences Degree
• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• 2 years preferred surgical first assisting and wound closure skills
• New Graduates currently not being considered, please do no apply.
Benefit package includes salary commensurate with experience, CME allotment, national and international travel opportunities and grated bonus program based on tenure as well as standard health care benefits and PTO, etc.
