| Description | Midwest Eye Care is a 10-MD, 7-OD practice with five full-service locations in Omaha (Nebraska) and Council Bluffs (Iowa). The practice is searching for a general ophthalmologist, or a fellowship trained doctor interested in establishing a strong general ophthalmology practice, for its Council Bluffs office. Council Bluffs is a suburb of Omaha, separated from Omaha by the Missouri River. Our Council Bluffs office is located approximately 10 miles (15 minutes) from our Omaha headquarters and ambulatory surgery center. Council Bluffs has a population of approximately 65,000, but it also serves as a medical hub for the surrounding towns in Southwest Iowa; collectively, the Council Bluffs medical market serves approximately 100,000 individuals. Midwest Eye Care is the only ophthalmology practice in this community. We currently service this office with one full-time ophthalmologist, two full-time optometrists, and three other ophthalmologists and optometrists who visit the office on a weekly basis. There is strong medical and surgical demand in this location, particularly because of the aging population. Omaha (and its surrounding suburbs) is a great place to live. With a MSA population approaching one million people, Omaha offers many of the attractions found in major cities – but without the traffic jams and high cost of living. Omaha’s cost of living is 12% below the national average, the local unemployment rate is 40% below the national average and the average commute time is 22% below the national average. Surgery is performed at Midwest Eye Care's ambulatory surgical center in Omaha or at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs. |
