We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Pediatric Critical Care Transport Team:

When a seriously ill baby or child requires transportation to more specialized care, our critical care transport team and Children's Hospital Emergency Transport Ambulance (CHETA) are ready to go.

The registered nurses, clinical nurse specialists and respiratory therapists who staff CHETA are specially trained in emergency medical care. With their skills and CHETA's life-sustaining equipment, we can transport children ranging from neonates to teenagers.

Every CHETA transport is supervised by a UW Health attending physician who is an expert in transport medicine and pediatric critical care.

CHETA's hands-free communication system interfaces with the medical equipment on board to transfer critical patient information in real time to specialists preparing for the patient's arrival.

Education:

Minimum – Graduate of a baccalaureate, associate or diploma nursing school

Preferred – Baccalaureate degree in nursing

Work Experience:

Minimum – Three (3) years of recent neonatal intensive care and/or pediatric critical care experience. A total of five years’ experience in a pediatric specialty ED will also be considered.

Preferred – Pediatric Critical Care Transport experience including neonates.

Licenses and Certifications:

Minimum – Current Registration as a professional registered nurse in the State of Wisconsin. CPR and PALS certification. Must attain NRP within 6 months of hiring date. Must attain one of the following within 18 months of hire: CEN, CCRN, RNC, CFRN, or CTRN.

Preferred – STABLE

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:

Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.

Experience in teaching patients and families.

Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members. Based on unit needs, additional knowledge, skills and abilities may be required.

Physical Requirements:

Heavy: Ability to lift up to 100 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Work Schedule:

75% FTE, 30 hours per week.
Day/Evening/Night with the hours of 6:00 am - 6:00 pm, 6:00 pm - 6:00 am, 9:00 am - 9:00 pm or 9:00 pm - 9:00 am
Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
