NYU-Winthrop Hospital is a world-class 591-bed university-affiliated medical center and a major regional healthcare resource with a deep commitment to medical education and research. Our well established and highly regarded Psychiatry Department is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner interested in collaborative integrated mental/medical care. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collegial and nurturing environment that encourages creativity and facilitates growth. The qualified candidate will play a major role in an Innovative Integrated Diabetes/Mental Health Care program in a nationally recognized Advanced Diabetes Care Center. Knowledge of CBT and motivational interviewing is a plus. The ideal candidate would be a dynamic clinician with a commitment to excellence and a strong interest in providing collaborative care in a multidisciplinary setting. PMHNP-BC/ANCC board certification preferred, active involvement in teaching and an academic appointment at Stony Brook University School of Medicine will be supported. The Nurse Practitioner using his/her clinical expertise to plan the delivery of safe, therapeutic, population-specific patient care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. With the patient and family central to the care, incorporates the unique characteristics and needs of each patient and family member into the plan of care. Works collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team to promote wellness and optimize patient outcomes.

Education: MSN degree, and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, required.

License/Certification: Current NYS registration, required. Nurse Practitioner Certification, required. Current BLS, required.

Experience: Relevant experience in Mental Health, strongly preferred.

Skills: Excellent communication skills. Basic computer skills.

Other: Ability to be credentialed consistent with the Medical Staff by-laws, required. Must be completely credentialed before starting position.
