Oklahoma University Health Sciences Center, College of Medicine Physician Associate Program

SALARY:
Commensurate with rank and experience.

BEGINNING DATE:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Administrative: Participate in curriculum development, evaluation of the program, and continuous self-assessment and improvement processes. Mentor, advise, and evaluate students. Attend Department and Program meetings. Participate in the selection process for admission into the Physician Associate Program and serve on the Academic Affairs and Promotion Committee. Develop, review, and revise as necessary the mission statement, goals, and competencies of the program.
• Academic: Course development and coordination, classroom teaching, participation in course assignments in a setting promoting team teaching, developing and maintaining learning outcomes and instructional objectives for traditional, synchronous, and asynchronous web courses, participation in lab sessions and simulations, guiding student research projects, providing remedial instruction, participation in clinical site visits and evaluations, and establishing a personal program of scholarly activity.
• Clinical (PA applicant): Consists of seeing patients in a clinical practice appropriate to training and background for one day per week for 46 weeks annually.
• Service: Commitments will include maintaining an active role in state and national organizations supporting the educational mission of the program. Representing the Department and Division in intramural and extramural community activities to positively influence campus and community partners.

REQUIREMENTS:
• ARC-PA accredited program graduate
• Current NCCPA certification, eligibility for licensure in Oklahoma
• Master's degree in PA studies or other discipline and doctoral preparation or pursuit preferred
• Two yearsofclinical experience
• Two years of teaching experience preferred

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS for Non-PA APPLICANT:
• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Education or a related field
• Experience in curriculum design, program evaluation, and student assessment
• Demonstrated history of scholarship, grant submission, and mentoring preferred

GENERAL INFORMATION:
The nationally recognized University of Oklahoma College of Medicine's Physician Associate Program invites qualified faculty applicants for a full-time principal faculty position. The PA Program is academically housed in the College of Medicine and the Program Director and faculty are accountable to the College of Medicine's Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs. The Oklahoma PA program, one of the first programs in the United States, is an accredited master’s degree program. The majority of students are from Oklahoma and stay in Oklahoma, but the program attracts students from across the U.S.

The successful faculty candidate will be part of a highly motivated cohesive faculty of experienced educators working as an interdisciplinary team to deliver a comprehensive PA curriculum focused on primary care and preparing students to practice in a variety of clinical settings. The successful candidate will work in collaboration with other PA faculty members within the Division to provide expertise and contribute to a collaborative working environment.
