General Purpose: The Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner will provide care for patients presenting with urgent complaints to the Acute Care Department at Yale Health. The NP or PA-C will provide high quality care to patients with urgent medical needs; commit to medically appropriate care that is patient centered, evidence based, compassionate and cost effective. Commit to thorough patient education about treatment options, pros and cons of various choices, and shared decision - making with patients and family.

Works collaboratively with team members to develop team-based care by participating in meetings and contributing to performance improvement project; adhere to departmental and organizational standards of patient service and responsiveness; adhere to organizational standards of medical documentation within the Yale Health electronic health record (Epic), including timely completion of notes and management of Epic In-basket;

Ensure safe, effective and timely communication and hand-offs to other team members; work flexibly with colleagues for coverage of absences and paid time-off; participate in rotation for weekend and holiday coverage in Acute Care; participate in organization-wide committees and project work; abide by Yale Health Code of Conduct and all relevant policies and procedures.

Required Education and Experience: Master’s Degree from an accredited Advanced Nurse Practitioner program or graduation from a Physician Assistant (PA) Training Program accredited by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education. CT ARPN license (or eligible) with ANA certification OR CT PA license (or eligible).

Qualifications:
• Demonstrated ability in clinical practice, preferably adult/pediatric urgent care or emergency department.
• Comfort with a broad spectrum of urgent care complaints in adults and children of all ages, including but not limited to musculoskeletal, cardiac, pulmonary and dermatological issues.
• Proficiency with minor surgical procedures, e.g., suturing, incision and drainage of abscesses, would management and splinting.
• Prescriptive privileges in the State of Connecticut, Federal DEA license and CT DCP license for prescription of controlled substances. Comprehensive knowledge of state, federal and university regulations related to administering medications and maintaining appropriate medical records.
• Excellent attendance, punctuality and reliability.
• Preferred Education and Experience: Three or more years experience in clinical practice, preferably adult/pediatric urgent care or emergency department. CPR certification.
