| Description | The Ward Family Heart Center at Children's Mercy, Kansas City, seeks a Medical Director for Inpatient Cardiology starting in July 2018. Candidates would join an existing group of 27 cardiologists, 4 surgeons and 28 APNs. They must be board-certified in Pediatric Cardiology and have at least 5 years of experience. Working closely with the leaders of the Heart Center and the Children's Hospital, the Director will oversee the delivery of cardiac care on the 23-bed Cardiology floor and serve as liaison with the 50-bed PICU (average daily Cardiac census 15, the 87-bed Level IV NICU (average daily cardiac census 8) and all other aspects of the inpatient enterprise. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic leader to promote ongoing successes and enhance strategic growth in a busy and complex quarternary health care environment. Experience in leadership and with LEAN methodology are highly desirable. Strong communication skills are key. Dedicated time for administration will be provided. There are ample opportunities for clinical research and teaching (medical students, residents and fellows). Academic appointments for these positions will be through the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Missouri, Kansas City (Chairman: Michael Artman, MD). Salary and academic rank are commensurate with experience.

We perform over 500 cardiac operations, 600 cardiac catheterizations including over 180 invasive EP procedures, 18,000 outpatient visits and 18,000 echocardiograms annually. We have video-conferencing capabilities that are routinely used by providers from distant locations to dial in to our conferences for patient care and education.
