Responsibilities

Primary Function of the Physician Assistant is to perform, under the responsibilty and supervison of the surgeon, diagnostics and therapeutic tasks to allow the physician to extend his/her services through the more effective use of his/her knowledge in the sphere of decision making required to establish a diagnosis and to plan therapy. He/she may assist in gathering the data necessary in implementing the therapeutic plan of the surgeon. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range on their assigned clinical area.
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):
Provide clinical support in an inpatient and outpatient setting.
Sees patients in a clinic setting, performing routine medical assessments and treatments, which may include: obtaining medical histories, perfoming physical examinations, counseling patients, etc. and performs minor outpatient surgical procedures in a clinic settingwhen appropriate and document all activies in accordance with established medical policies and protocols.
Forms patient assessment and develops preliminary patient care plan and performs and documents all activities in established protocols and policies.
Provides post-operative care to patients by evaluating patient's physical condition to ensure no secondary complications have occurred due to surgery, removes sutures and/or saples, aspirates wound fluids, provides specific patient care as needed in accordance with established policies and protocols.

Qualifications


Bachelors Degree and Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program

Pennsylvania State Physician's Assistant License

NCCPA Certification

ACLS and BLS

DEA Registration

3+ years of Physician Assistant experience required

Variable hours of availability (i.e. day, evening, night and weekend shifts may be necessary)

Accountability to the patient, family, nursing and medical colleagues for expert knowledge, judgement, and/or direct patient care
