Position description
Mayo Clinic Health System Eau Claire is expanding our neurosurgery practice to include an additional Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant. The current practice consists of 3 Neurosurgeons and the NP/PA practice model is 1 to 1.

The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant works cooperatively with MD's, PA's/NP's, and other allied health personnel. Job responsibilities include outpatient and inpatient evaluations and consultations, post-surgical care, and to support the practice of 4 innovative Neurosurgeons by first assisting in the operating room or bedside procedures. Responsibilities also include giving direction to various allied health staff. Tasks may include: comprehensive assessment, ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies.

The position does include call assignments (OR) and providing weekend and holiday coverage.
QualificationsAllied Health Privileges within 3 months of hire. Ability to read and communicate effectively in English. Basic computer skills. Leadership, problem solving, ability and willingness to learn new skills and methods. Ability to perform the range of duties in a variety of work settings, perform well in stressful situations and to work effectively as part of an integrated healthcare team. Basic improvement concepts and techniques. Flexibility to meet department needs.
Additional qualificationsPrefer surgical first assisting experience.
License or certificationPhysician Assistant - Licensed in the state of Wisconsin or eligible for licensure. Graduate of an accredited physician assistant program. NCCPA Certified. Current BLS and ACLS Certifications.

Nurse Practitioner - Active Wisconsin RN license. Active Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license or eligible for licensure. Board Certification through recognized national organization (ANCC, AACN, or AANP). Current BLS and ACLS Certification.
