This Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for:

Providing care to infants, children, and young adults with both acute and chronic diseases and disorders of the brain, spine and nervous system often involving serious symptoms that may call for complex surgical treatments; including ventriculoperitoneal shunts/ hydrocephalus, craniotomies; brain tumors, epilepsy surgery, trauma, tethered spinal cord, and myelomeningocele.

Collaborating with the supervising physician to conduct patient assessments, medical history, physical exams and to diagnose health and developmental problems.

Participating in daily rounding on the inpatient pediatric neuroscience unit through multidisciplinary collaboration.

Assisting with care coordination, monitoring and counseling of patients during the pre and post-operative period, including telephone consultation.
Working closely with departmental team to establish new and revised processes and protocols around patient access, safety and quality improvement.
Developing and conducting research/outcomes studies to optimize patient care.
Contributing to the knowledge base of the profession and specialty programs through publications, presentations and participation in professional organizations.
Offering expertise as a consultant and educator to nursing staff.
Working four 10-hour days.

To qualify, you must have:

A Masters of Science Degree in Nursing (MSN). Or Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies.

PNP/FNP or PA license.

A minimum of 3 years NP or PA acute care pediatric experience. Neuroscience experience preferred.

For NPs, will consider 1-3 years NP experience with RN experience in an acute care setting.

Certification within Neuroscience expected within 1 year.
