Summary
The vascular access team member is responsible for PICC, IV and Midline insertions for inpatient and outpatient. The RN is also responsible for staying up to date on the latest Infusion Therapy Standards of Practice as well as conducting chart reviews, root cause analysis, and holding in-services for prover IV insertion, central line, PICC, and Port-A- Cath care for nursing staff. RN is responsible for educating patients on the care of PICC lines that are inserted during their hospital stay.

Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:

Considers factors related to safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering care.
Collects comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or the situation.
Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues.
Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes.
Implements the identified plan.
Coordinates care delivery.
Employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Provides consultation to influence the identified plan, enhance the abilities of others, and effect change.
Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes.
Safely administers and documents all forms of medication administration.
Safely performs and documents all procedures performed.
Integrates ethical provisions in all areas of practice.
Insertion of difficult peripheral IV's.
Draw blood from central line catheter and /or difficult stick.
Consult with physicians, nurses, and patients regarding the appropriate vascular access.
Insert and remove PICC lines.
Provide care and maintenance to PICC lines, ie dressing changes
Access and de-access ports.
Evaluate IV sites for complications.
Implement treatment for complications.
Restart /rotate IV sites.
Draw arterial blood for ABG.
Place TB skin test, interpret and report tests.
Plan and participate in informal and formal intravascular education.
Maintain records as appropriate.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 am-3:30 pm, every third weekend
