This individual is a clinically competent Nurse Practitioner who will report to the Interventional Cardiology Medical Director and Executive Director of the Cardiac and Vascular Service Line. S/he must be able to effectively deliver care through demonstrated expertise to the Interventional Cardiology patient.

The principle duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to : performing pre-procedure assessments, Histories and Physicals, education and counseling of patients on cardiac disease and treatments, responsible for tentative diagnosis, order and provide preliminary interpretation of lab studies, post procedure management of patient, assist with discharging of patient. Responsibilities:

Provides timely and thorough pre procedural work up on all Interventional Cardiology patients to include orders, History and Physical, review of consent and lab tests. Provides post procedural orders, discharge planning and education on all Interventional Cardiology patients.

Provides direct patient care to Interventional Cardiology patients and evaluates patient outcomes. Participates in Rapid Response Team Assists with evaluation and eminence of closure devices, sheath pulls and arteriotomy sites.

Performs orders and interprets results of diagnostic and lab tests on all CCL. Provides training and education to the CCL Staff, ED, CCU and CVSD, staff as needed. Responds and actively participates in Heart Codes. Actively participates in mock codes and cardiac arrests on cardiac units. Actively participates in review of PI data and all PI activities.

Credentials - Essential:

NP - Nurse Practitioner
NIH - Stroke Certification
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
BLS - Basic Life Support

Competencies and Skills - Essential:

Experience In Hospital Or Acute Care Setting
Clear Communication Skills Both Written And Verbal
Knowledge Of Basic Computer Programs
Able To Keep Confidential Information Regarding Patients, Team Members
Able To Withstand Crisis Situations
Has Skills To Provides Customer Service To Patients, Team Members And Visitors
Knowledge And Experience With Electronic Health Records

Education - Essential:

Master of Science in Nursing
Nurse Practitioner

Other Information:

Minimum 3 years experience in clinical nursing.
Minimum 2 years experience functioning as a NP with Cardiac Cath and Invasive Cardiology patients.
Strong clinical background, must have strong communication and motivational skills.
Must have knowledge of pharmacology principles, dysrhythmia, ability to assess clinical situations and initiate appropriate treatment and interpret laboratory data, respond to emergency situations, coordinate work schedules to achieve maximum productivity and efficiency.
May require call coverage.
